Episode 80 – Glory Days of Gold (Down Down Deeper And Down)
Welcome to Episode 80 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
It finally happened and the only real surprise is that we held on for so long. East Fife are officially relegated and Scottish League 2 is the new home for the black and gold. Will it be a fleeting visit or should we get ready for a long stay in the bottom flight?
Michael, Lee, Doug, and Aaron look over the loss to Falkirk that sealed their fate, the season that was, and look ahead to what the club need to do now to make sure we’re not in with the also-rans of Scottish football for longer than we have to be. Plus join us for a game of Blankety Blank!

Hi all, really enjoy your podcasts and agree for the most part but I feel most of you are not aware of what has happened behind the scenes regarding team selection, substitutions, player targets, the Ryan Wallace situation and many other things that the board does not discuss with supporters so it ends up on your forum as pure speculation. The only other comment I would like to make is what Doug said regarding his bright spot was the young bayview boys are great and needed, well Doug if you call supporters great for singing songs about opposition players, calling him a paedophile and a sex offender and also foul language against the Falkirk team and supporters and by the way in front of about 60 young schoolchildren who were in the same stand as us them I am ashamed to think that you find that acceptable behaviour and you call yourself an East Fife supporter. Sorry disgusted.
Hi Keith,
Thanks for your comment and thanks for your support of the pod.
I’ll agree it was a rushed answer from me regarding the young fans, put on the spot with those questions! While I don’t agree with every song they sing I stick by that it’s good to see an enthusiastic young group of lads supporting us and creating an atmosphere both home and away, God knows Bayview needs some atmosphere. If we were chucked out for singing Mary fi Methilhill et al back in the day when I was their age there would be a lot less EF fans today! Maybe they need some guidance about what’s acceptable but I like what they’re at least trying to achieve on a match day.
Doug
