2007/2008: East Fife’s 60 year Championship wait was finally over

Well the long wait was finally over.

After wrapping up the championship in record-breaking fashion (29 weeks from 25 August 2007 to 15 March 2008), the Irn Bru Third Division Championship trophy arrived at Bayview Stadium on the afternoon of Saturday 19th April 2008.

You just had to look around to see what it meant to everyone there, with fans flying in from around the world to enjoy the occasion.

What a special day that was. One that will long live in the memories of everyone that was there. Especially those who had watched the team for decades without ever seeing a trophy won.

Thankfully there wasn’t to be another 60 year wait in store for another championship.
