Episode 13 – Glory Days of Gold (God! Show Me Magic with special guest Willie Brown)
Welcome to Episode 13 of Glory Days of Gold. This week’s episode is brought to you by our sponsor Ross Young.
Back to being recorded across just two continents this week, Glory Days of Gold brings you a regular dose of East Fife FC and Scottish football chat, with a splattering of interesting interviews, fun segments, and music thrown in along the way.
It may be Episode 13 but it’s certainly not an unlucky one for all you listeners because our feature interview this week is with an East Fife legend, and one of Michael’s all-time favourite players to have pulled on the Black and Gold shirt. A man who inspired an iconic piece of graffiti outside the old Bayview, and who was sent off more times than we’ve had episodes so far, the one and only Willie Brown.
We take a trip down memory lane with Willie as he looks at his time at Bayview and his footballing career away from the Fife. We find out what it was like to play for the team in the Murray years, why he had to leave the club when he did, chat about his disciplinary record, talk about the heartbreak that was that 1990 Dundee United cup tie, and lots, lots more.
There’s lots of fun tales to be told along the way from a different time in Scottish football. We don’t want to spoil them for you too much but they involve drinking, fighting, arguments, and a lot more!
All this and we find out if Dr Kenny Deuchar fancies a chocolate digestive, Dancing On Tables are this week’s artists in Have You Heard?, Serious Drinking feature in this week’s football music section Wavelength, there’s another Who Are You?, and we hear an East Fife rap from The Fresh Prince of Nae Hair.
